FORD - Engineering CAD and Drafting Standards Collection

Description:
FORD - Engineering CAD and Drafting Standards Collection contains more than 45 documents.

The purpose of the Ford Automotive Operations (FAO) Engineering CAD and Drafting Standards is to provide direction to Ford Motor Company Engineering Activities, Full Service Suppliers, and contract engineering companies for the preparation of Product and Manufacturing technical drawings for use by Ford Motor Company and its suppliers. These Standards provide comprehensive information regarding the preparation and interpretation of engineering drawings and assist Ford Motor Company’s engineering organizations to satisfy the principles of ISO 9000.

The standards provide direction to all Ford Motor Company engineering activities, suppliers, and contract engineering companies for the preparation of both Product and Manufacturing technical drawings. Technical drawings being defined as any graphical representation, whether 2D, 3D, on CAD or other medium, used to describe the design intent of objects and containing the necessary annotations to construct either final products, models, machinery, tooling and assembly aids.

The Ford Engineering Drafting Standards are now available in PDF format, viewable with the Adobe Acrobat Reader. In addition to the Ford standards, the service also includes the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards referenced within the FAO Engineering Drafting Standards. You can locate a precise standard either by searching the full-text or by browsing the table of contents.

The documents are Ford internal standards related to the design and creation of CAD drawings and engineering prints. Some of the topics covered are:

  • Drawing Layout Requirements
  • Classification and Numbering
  • Drafting Conventions
  • Dimensions and Tolerancing
  • Symbol Usage
  • Wiring/Circuitry Requirements
  • AutoCAD Considerations

Online Access - Subscribers get secure online access to search, view, bookmark, track, and print documents according to the license agreement. Online documents are updated daily. Multiple users can share a single license. You also get access to IHS Standards bibliographic data – more than 1 Million documents.

Individual Documents - IHS sell individual documents through the IHS Store in electronic or hard copy formats. Statistics show that 1 out of every 5 people who purchase individual documents would benefit from an online subscription. You should consider a collection over individual document purchases if your company buys more than $3,000 in standards per year.
