Scope:
1. SCOPE
This standard covers metric series all metal directional prevailing torque-tension type hex nuts of the designs that will meet all of the specified dimensional and performance requirements. These nuts include provisions for automated assembly and are intended for general engineering applications requiring the use of nuts embodying prevailing torque characteristics. Inasmuch as not all of the nuts described herein have been produced and evaluated, it should be recognized that some adjustments to either or both the dimensional and performance specifications may be necessary as experience is gained in their manufacture and use. In the interim, acceptance of products procured under part numbers for which data is designated "theoretical" or "under development" shall be subject to negotiation between the purchaser and the manufacturer in situations where differences occur.
