Title
BASE COAT / CLEAR COAT ENAMEL TOPCOAT (POLYESTER / ACRYLIC)
Holden Limited
Publication Date:
Oct 1, 2007
Scope:
INTRODUCTION
This specification covers the requirements for approval of
solvent-borne polyester base coat/acrylic clear coat enamel
topcoats for vehicle exterior finishing from both parts suppliers
and Holden Assembly Plant. This finish is intended for use on metal
substrates which have been cleaned and primed per appropriate GM
Holden specifications.
New model colours must conform to this specification to receive
GM Holden Materials Engineering approval. Under some circumstances
preliminary approval may be granted on satisfactory completion of
short term testing; final approval being granted on completion of
all tests. This specification does not negate the responsibility of
the paint supplier to ensure pigment blends used have inherent
stability suitable for automotive use and that all colours are
suitable for processing in-plant.
At the option of Manufacturing Department, further tests may be
performed for production evaluation. Manufacturing Department is
responsible for separately approving the productability of all
colours.
