Scope:

A SCOPE

This Standard applies to the treatment of iron and steel components and sub-assemblies to produce coatings consisting essentially of metallic phosphates for use as follows: · In conjunction with organic coatings or sealants for protection against corrosion. · In conjunction with lubricants for cold forming operations and for resistance to wear, fretting and scuffing. This Standard does not apply to fastenings for controlled torque applications (refer to JMS 10.13.02), fastenings where black finishes are of prime importance for aesthetic reasons (refer to JMS 10.05.02) or to vehicle bodies.
