Scope:
1. SCOPE
This specification covers the requirements for the surface preparation of plastic parts prior to priming or direct colour coating. A power wash (spray impingement) treatment is required for thorough removal of water soluble mold lubricants, material handling, and other shop or machining soilage. For fiberglass filled thermoset polyester substrates (SMC, TMC, PIM) an outgas bake is required after power wash. Included herein are the painted product, process, laboratory performance and cleaning material requirements.
