Scope:
This specification covers construction, material and finish
requirements, design requirements and guidelines, part marking
requirements, tolerances and KCC, workmanship standards, and
quality control and source approval for the types of tubing covered
by this specification.
Note 1: The use of zinc plated
tubing in coolant systems is not allowed, unless prior approval
from Engineering is given. In certain applications where zinc
plating (CEMS G-20) may be desired and approved, it will be
supplied with trivalent chromium passivation (or other hex-chrome
free passivation - refer to CEMS G-20 for options).
Note 2: Larger diameter steel tubing (1-5/8 to
7 inches) used in engine air/fluid systems is covered in TMS-1058.
Aluminum tubing used in engine air/fluid systems is covered in
TMS-1059.
Restricted Chemical Substances
Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the
requirements of this specification must comply with the
requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification.
