Purpose.
To provide a means for documenting the results of inspections per engineering drawings or specifications performed by engineering personnel when evaluating whether requirements listed in Technical Specifications are met by the product design.
Foreword.
“Inspection" is one of the four methods of validation cited in VDP. (Vehicle Development Process.)
During the course of conducting product programs, engineering personnel may be able to inspect various types of engineering documentation to determine whether Technical Specification are met by the product design.
It is anticipated that this procedure will not be used for product performance related technical requirements (i.e., 0 to 60 time).
This procedure provides a mechanism for describing the basic methods to be followed and documenting the results to ensure that requirements designated for validation via "Inspection" are properly validated to.
Applicability.
Passenger cars, light trucks, subsystems and components. This procedure is not intended to replace the Product Design Compliance Report (PDCR) Process or Engineering Judgment Letters. This procedure is not for comparing the part dimensions to it's drawing specifications.
