Scope:

A SCOPE 1 This Standard defines requirements for ferrous sintered components treated in superheated steam under pressure to produce a black, corrosion resistant, iron oxide surface finish. It does not cover other aspects such as hardness and compressive strength which are increased by degrees dependent on the initial material composition and density. Where these aspects are important, specific requirements will be stated on the engineering drawing.
