Scope:

This standard covers hydraulic brake hose assemblies for automotive hydraulic brake systems (hereinafter called "hose assembly").

Remark 1. Terminology (Refer to "Power steering hoses and power steering hose assemblies - ISD-V01-008B") :

a. Hose : The part of a hose assembly composed of rubber layers and reinforcement layers.

b. Hose Fitting : The coupling composed of an end joint fitting section and a crimping section, built in hose assembly

c. Hose Assembly : Hose equipped with hose fittings

d. Free Length : The straight length of brake hose section except the length inserted in both hose fittings

e. Crazing : Fine cracks generated in hose surface due to environmental attack and/or physical stress

2. This standard does not cover the multiple-hose assemblies composed of hose assemblies connected one another and no part numbers are assigned to them, but covers the individual hose assemblies, hose fittings and intermediate fittings of the multiple-hose assemblies.

3. Hose assemblies with spring protectors are not covered by this standard.

4. Hose assemblies with intermediate fittings or spring protectors, however, shall also meet the basic requirements herein for their rubber materials, hose-fitting materials and hose specifications, performance, etc.

5. In this standard, the units and numeral values enclosed in braces ({ }) are in accordance with the conventional system of units, shown for reference.
