Scope:
This standard covers the power steering hoses (hereinafter referred to as “hoses”) and the power steering hose assemblies (hereinafter referred to as “hose assemblies”) used in the power steering system of automobiles.
Remark 1 : In this standard, the terms “hose” and “hose assembly” shall be defined as shown in Fig. 1.
Hose (A hose as a separate entity may be referred to as “fitting-less hose” if it must be distinguished from a hose as a component of a hose assembly)
Remark 2. This standard does not apply to the hose assemblies using pipes as part of the metal fitting. End fittings and pipes to be used in the future for such hose assemblies shall be as specified in Annex II.
Remark 3. This standard does not apply to the hoses and hose assemblies with protectors such as insulator and springs.
Remark 4. This standard should preferably apply also to the basic items of the hose and hose assemblies not specified herein, including the qualities of rubber and metallic materials, the performance and outside / inside diameters of hoses, etc.
Remark 5. The units and numerical values in braces ({ }) are in accordance with the conventional unit system (CGS) and appended for reference.
