Scope:
This specification covers the requirements of a two component, low MDI
structural foam which may be
applied after paint on E-coated metal and used for structural
reinforcement of body cavities such
as pillars, rails and other areas where lightweight structural
enhancement may be required. This
material may be baffled in order to inhibit expansion into areas of
the body cavity where no
structural reinforcement is required, or where holes for attachment of
trim pieces or other parts
are located. It must be capable of bonding to E-coated metal.
Material Identification.
This material is a 24lbs/ft3 two component material, comprising of an
isocyanate prepolymer
(9986185) and a curative component (9986241). The mix ratio for this
material is 4:1. The mixture
of 9986185 and 9986241 is identified as 9986242.
Typical Application.
Structural reinforcement of body cavities.
Remarks.
Adhesion of this material can only be achieved on E-coated or painted
surfaces where wet
(unreacted) foam contacts the substrate during dispensing. It is not
recommended for use on bare
metal.
This system must be capable of being metered, mixed and dispensed with
current production
equipment.
