This specification covers the requirements for a thermosetting, sandable, solvent-borne primer that is applied by spraying and is then topcoated with acrylic enamel colors. The cure temperature of the primer is low enough to avoid warping or sagging of zinc die castings. This primer is intended to provide a smooth, adhesion-promoting corrosion- resistant coating over certain zinc die castings that cannot withstand elpo processing. This material is also intended to provide filling of minor metal imperfections and to provide an easily sanded surface. 1.1 Material Description. This primer is intended to be part of a coating system consisting of zinc phosphate, primer, and color topcoat. 1.1.1 Material Identification.
