Scope:
This specification refers to SAE J2050 with four amendments. These amendments are:-
Amendment 1
The amendments to SAE J2050 section “4. Dimensions” include
Alternative Class A Standards
Note: * denotes this was simply known as an additional Class A standard prior to the Feb 1993 version of SAE J2050.
Amendment 2
The amendments to SAE J2050 section “9.1.1 Impulse Test Conditions” include
a. Cycle Pressure
1. Low pressure - 0 to 0.70 MPa ( 0 to 100 psi)
2. High pressure - 11.0 to 11.4 MPa (1595 to 1653 psi)
g. Test Cycle (repeated for the duration of the test)
2. Cool Down – Shut off machine and cool to a reservoir temperature of 82 °C and then until the hose temperature drops to 25 °C. The reservoir temperature must be returned to 82 °C prior to re-starting the impulse cycling.
i. Test Duration
1. Performance Validation 300 000 cycles minimum
2. Lot Approval 100 000 cycles minimum
Amendment 3
The amendments to SAE J2050 section “9.9 Identification Marking” include
Hose shall be identified with the hose manufacturer’s- and/or the coupling manufacturer’s- code marking. The marking shall be on the outer cover and shall include the month and year of manufacture.
Amendment 4
The amendments to SAE J2050 section “3.Hose Construction” include
The tube shall resist deterioration by action of hydraulic power steering fluids specified by GM Holden Engineering.
