General Motors North America
Publication Date:

Scope:
1 SCOPE.
This method covers a heat aging procedure used for estimating the resistance of plastics in molded form to accelerated aging by heat and air. The aging acceleration is produced by exposing molded specimens to an elevated temperature in a forced-draft air-recirculating oven. Degradation of the specimens, photograph available from Engineering Standards Dept., occurs at a rate which is dependent on the thermal endurance of the particular material tested.
