This standard defines the properties for low carbon steel flat products used for cold forming. It includes the grades CR1, 3 and 4 and HR1 - 4, HR14 and 15 which were previously covered by the now obsolete BS 1449 Part 1 1983. It also includes interstitial free (IF) grades DC05 and 6 which are ultra low carbon steels having superior forming characteristics to CR1. Appendix C relates the grades of cold rolled material in this Standard to external standards.
