Scope:

1 SCOPE

A practical method of determining the degree of cleanliness of plain carbon and alloy steel products (bar and forging) by metallographic examination of a sample area measuring approximately 200 mm². It is not generally applicable to product sections less than 10 mm and care is required when evaluating the inclusion content of bearing- quality steels. The method should not be applied to high sulphur free- cutting steels with sulphur content above 0,05%.
