Scope:
This specification covers the properties of a black or gray chrome
platable, injection molding
grade ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) resin.
Paintability. Approved paint systems that can be used on this material
are listed in the GM
Approved Paint on Parts Systems (GM APOPS) database. Criteria for
approval of unique plastic/paint
systems are also provided.
Symbol. The material abbreviation according to ISO 11469 is
〈ABS〉
Typical Application. Typical applications include the following: door
hardware or small plated
parts.
Limitations. Material approved to this specification shall be limited
to materials which
demonstrate the ability to meet GM4372M and/or GM4373M as molded and
plated parts.
