Scope:
This specification covers cold-rolled (CR) and hot-rolled (HR)
Low Carbon Steel, as well as Dent- Resistant, Structural (SS), High
Strength Low Alloy (HSLA), Ultra-High Strength (UHSS), and other
high-strength steel types, in the form of flat-rolled
sheet/plate/bar and structural shapes. (Note that HSLA and
UHSS product forms having thickness of 0.25 in. or greater are
covered in CEMS A-43.) CEMS A-6 is divided into three
parts, as follows:
Part I - covers uncoated base metal requirements for low
carbon steel products
Part II - Metallic Coated Low Carbon Steel Sheet/Strip
(including galvanized and aluminized)
Part III - Organic Coated Low Carbon Steel Sheet/Strip
Restricted Chemical Substances
Effective January 1, 2007, all product supplied to the
requirements of this specification must comply with the
requirements of the CEMS B-50 specification.
