Title
Interior Trim Parts Performance
General Motors North America
Publication Date:
Mar 1, 2008
Scope:
This specification covers the performance requirements of
instrument panels, consoles, door trim, quarter trim panel, garnish
moldings, armrests, headrests, assist handles, rear window trim
panel and seat trims. This specification replaces, but does not
supersede, GM2740M, GM2741M, GM2797M, GM7454M, and GM2739M.
Some interior components may be covered under other part
performance specifications. For example, the overhead system panel
is covered by GM2745M, floor carpeting systems by GM2715M and
molded trunk systems by GM2750M. These specs were not incorporated
into this specification due to the considerable amount of unique
test parameters and material characteristics. Additionally, GM7451M
should be used to specify the performance requirements for simple,
molded-in-color or painted plastic components, which are not
sourced as part of the complex system.
It is intended that this performance specification be used for
interior parts with appearance attributes (color, grain and / or
gloss designation) in conjunction with the appropriate GM raw
material specification for UV stabilized materials. These can be in
formats such as GMP.XXX.XXX or GMNXXXX for plastics, 998XXXX or
GMNXXXX for paint, GMXXXXM or GMWXXXX for textiles and other
general materials. Additionally, GM7001M/GM7400M callouts or other
appropriate industry standard specifications may be used.
