Scope:

The Impact FRF Master Test Procedure, GMW14181, shall be referenced for more detailed information corresponding to the following procedure.

Purpose.

Define the process of determining the front HVAC module mounting mode natural frequency on vehicle or test buck. The product of this procedure will be a frequency value in Hz.

Forward.

The HVAC module mounting mode frequency is called out to reduce blower fan imbalance forces transmitted to the vehicle.

Placing the mounting frequency properly in relation to other instrument panel resonant frequencies will minimize vehicle excitation due to blower fan operation.

Applicability.

This test procedure is appropriate for use with all passenger cars and light trucks utilizing front HVAC modules.
