General Electric Co. (GE) boosted the roadside assistance capabilities of GE Motor Club by adding location-based services, global positioning ystem (GPS) satellite location tracking and telematics management to its call center services.

According to GE, this updated infrastructure means partners and clients can offer telematics services and features to their customer service offerings.

GE Motor Club provides services to the insurance, OEM automotive, wireless and fleet markets.

"Telematics and location-based service capabilities are a natural evolution of most any business serving the mobile marketplace," said Mamta Bhargava, senior vice president of GE Motor Club.

Earlier this month, GE Motor Club announced a partnership with Networkcar, a provider of wireless vehicle management services.

The partnership is designed to enhance the Networkcar Networkfleet program by integrating telematics and advanced roadside services, said GE.

As a result, customers of Networkcar have automatic vehicle location, stolen vehicle tracking and recovery, towing, locksmith service, battery boost, onsite repair, fuel delivery and other roadside services.

"Instant location tracking, location-based services, telematics, roadside assistance and stolen vehicle recovery add crucial protection that’s needed for drivers and their vehicles in our program," said Casey Littleton, business development manager for Networkfleet.
