The U.S. Department of Energy selected five next-generation vehicle research projects to receive as much as $19.2 million for development of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), and fuel-cell vehicles (FCVs).
- Companies Explore PHEVs
As advanced vehicle technologies move forward, a growing number of organizations are pursuing the use and exploring the performance of plug-in hybrid electronic vehicles (PHEVs), among them California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District, Wisconsin Public Power Inc., and Central Vermont Public Service.
- Google Backs PHEVs
Google.org, the philanthropic arm of Google, Inc., announced its intention to become a force in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and oil dependence by backing the adoption of plug-in hybrid electronic vehicles (PHEVs).
