The Joint Committee on National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Protocol (NTCIP) accepted the Application Programming Interface (API) Standard for the Advanced Transportation Controller (ATC) v02.02 as a user comment draft.
The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) are distributing copies to their members to solicit user comments.
The API working group was tasked by the ATC joint committee to assess the needs of users of the Advanced Transportation Controller.
The API draft standard identifies 23 user needs from which the group derived:
- 79 front panel requirements.
- 134 field input/output requirements.
- 16 other requirements.
The ATC API is defined by 55 front panel functions, 51 field input/output functions and 1 utility function.
There is a complete traceability matrix showing the relationship of user needs to the API functions.
